INFANTS CLASS

The Infants class is nestled in the Primary classroom area and is taught by Mrs Murphy. K, 1, 2 is a small Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 class. The Infants classroom is well equipped with computers, an interactive whiteboard and lots of resources to support the children with learning through ‘hands on’ activities. The ICT items are used by the students to complete online programs such as Mathletics and Reading Eggs. The class follows their regular routine throughout the week, including taking Science lessons with Mr Heffer on Mondays, visiting the Library on Tuesdays and participating in a Primary Devotion Assembly with the Stage 2 and 3 classes on Fridays.

Programs integrated into the Infants Program include Jolly Phonics, SMART Spelling and L3 – Language, Learning and Literacy in the Early Years. The Infants class participate annually in the Premier’s Reading Challenge and National Simultaneous Storytime.

Infants students at DCS are able to participate in a variety of extracurricular school activities, including, but not limited to:

  • Gardening

  • Art Club

  • Choir

  • Chess
